This is a very important newsletter filled with recital and registration information for next the dance season. Please make sure to read through thoroughly!
As stated in our policies, tuition is calculated by taking the number of weeks in the dance year for an annual rate, then dividing that into equal monthly payments September-April with a one and a half payment for May/June. All accounts must be up to date before May 22nd in order to start purchasing Recital Tickets.
Recital is closing in very fast. You can find all recital information on the website under the recital tab here: https://joyofdancenh.com/recital/. It would be greatly appreciated if you read through all the information on the page and then email us with any remaining questions. We also recommend printing the sheets out and highlighting the parts that pertain to your dancer. We know it is a lot of information but it all makes for a smooth and seamless performance weekend!
Recital Q&A Meetings with Miss Lindsey!
Do you have questions about your dancer’s big day? Miss Lindsey will be hosting two Q&A sessions to help ease the excitement and jitters of Recital. This is a great time to ask the director and other parents questions! Meetings will be held Tuesday, May 7th @ 10:15 am(childcare provided) in the reception area & Wednesday, May 8th @ 7:45 pm in the basement studio(you may use the back door). Can’t make those days? No problem! During the May 8th session, we will be going Facebook Live to share the meeting with those unable to attend. Be sure to follow Joy of Dance on Facebook to follow along! We also highly recommend those who are volunteering to be Backstage Moms to attend these sessions. If you are unable to attend, please submit your questions to email@example.com by Monday, May 8th and we will answer them during the FaceBook live event for you to watch at your convenience.
Joy of Dance’s 30th Recital Merchandise
Joy of Dance was originally founded in 1989 under Linda Russell-Gallivan in Northwood, NH. This year is our 30th anniversary Recital! We have many fun things planned for the big show. Community Service Opportunities through Joy of Dance
We have extended the deadline for collecting items to assemble care packages for military serving overseas as we hope to collect more supplies. These brave men and women often have to travel far away from their families and loved ones in order to do their job. Care packages are our way of getting the comforts of home to those who are deployed overseas. This is a wonderful way to show them our appreciation. Care package items needed include sunscreen, body wash, deodorant (.5oz), disposable razors, chapstick, mints, gum, personal size snacks, instant coffee, socks, etc. To find a complete list, please check out the donation bin in the studio!
On Saturday, May 11th we will be volunteering at the 25th Annual Pepper 5K Road Race at Barrington Elementary School. Proceeds of the race benefit the Barrington Chamber Scholarship fund in which $1,000 scholarships are awarded to several local high school seniors to help pay for college! Volunteers, please report to the school at 7:30 am. If you are unable to make it that day, the Barrington Chamber has also asked us to bake cookies for the event! Please join us in this wonderful community service project!
Performance Team and Hip Hop Troupe Interest Meeting
Being on a Performance Team and/or Hip Hop Troupe gives dancers more opportunities throughout the year to perform. They learn to rehearse more effectively and efficiently while working together as a team. They inspire and push one another to amazing new heights and show better technique over the course of the season due to hard work and extra practices. We offer Performance Teams for dancers starting at age 5 and Hip Hop Troupes for dancers starting at age 9.

Join us Wednesday, May 8th 7:15-7:45 pm for all the answers you are looking for! This meeting is for parents of dancers who are new to our teams and troupes. Dancers are welcome to attend if they wish but are not required to attend. Current team/troupe parents need not attend.
We are excited to announce a 2-hour Ballet Workshop on Saturday, May 11th 11am-1pm for ages 11 and up!
The Mast Class teacher, Judith Koeckhoven, received a Ford Foundation Scholarship for study at The School of American Ballet, New York City Ballet’s official school. There, her teachers included the great Russian ballerinas, Madame Alexandra Danilova, and Madame Antonia Tumkovsky. Ms. Koeckhoven’s dedication and vision have earned national acclaim for her ballet school The Academy of Ballet Arts. She has been providing the highest caliber of dance education in the greater New England area for over 30 years. Ms. Koeckhoven, a Ballet Consultant, continues to teach, choreograph and coach both locally and abroad. Registration for this wonderful opportunity is $35. Come refine your ballet technique & learn new variations in this 2-hour workshop event.

You may pick one up at the studio to fill out beforehand to bring with you on Picture Day. Forms will be on the desk when they become available.
Back by popular demand, we are featuring both Dad’s/Sweethearts & Daughters in our Recital piece this year! We will be meeting a couple of times starting in May to prepare for our on-stage performance at Recital. Dads/sweethearts may dance with their daughters in whichever the dancer is scheduled to be in. Not sure which show they’re in? Check out our website! We need dads and daughters to commit to each practice time in order for this to be the best dad dance yet! Rehearsal dates include:

Closed for Memorial Day weekend!
We will be closed 5/27-5/29 in observance of Memorial Day. Saturday and Monday classes will be extended one week to end on 6/1 and 6/3 respectively.
Back Stage Moms
We are still in need of Backstage Moms for Recital. This volunteer position is pivotal to the success of our dancer’s big show! Sorry Dads, but no boys are allowed in the band room! BSM will get to watch their dancer perform from the audience in a reserved section set aside for them. Please read through the Back Stage Mom advice to get a clear understanding of what is required when signing up. If you are interested, please email Nicole at firstname.lastname@example.org or see the front desk of the studio.
We are working on a list of volunteers that we will need for Recital. Be on the lookout for that in the next week or so. Please let us know if you are available to help! Remember, volunteers do not need to purchase tickets to Recital, but will get to see their dancer(s) perform.
Can’t go 3 months without dance? Neither can we! Registration for Summer Dance is now open through our website. We are offering new classes this summer for beginners through advanced dancers for ages 1.5 to Adult! Check out our Summer Classes and Summer Camps on our website!
There is no membership fee for Summer Dance classes. Tuition is due upon registration in order to hold your spot in the class. You may choose to pay a non-refundable $25 deposit to hold your spot. Please indicate in the comments section if this is your choice. If no comment is left, you will be charged the full tuition amount at the time of registration.
Recommendations for the 2019-2020 dance year
Recommendations for the 2019-2020 dance year along with the schedule will be coming out soon. If you have any questions concerns about placements, don’t hesitate to schedule a placement meeting with Miss Lindsey. Both the dancer and a parent must be present at the meeting. More information on this will be available soon!
We offer a referral program! We love to hear when you recommend our studio to friends and family members. It is greatly appreciated and we want to reward you for it! Make sure to let your friend or family know to write your name in the referral box upon registration. Once the dancer has been in class for three months, we will apply the $25 credit to BOTH accounts as a thank you. Credits will be applied for new family accounts, not for individual dancers.
Crazy Hair Week!
Last week of classes from May 28th through June 3rd is Crazy Hair Week! Dancers can come to class with fun and funky hairdos. Please make sure hair is still properly secured and pulled out of the dancer’s face. We are excited to see what our dancers will come up with!
