Happy New Year Joy of Dancers! Classes resume tomorrow, 1/2!
Recital Date Reminder
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Recital weekend at Dover High School June 6th & 7th, with tech rehearsals during the week. Times for tech rehearsals are currently TBD. It feels far away now, but it will be here before we know it!
Speaking of Recital, we will be starting choreography for our recital dances this month! At this time, we ask that our dance parents speak to their dancers about the importance of making a commitment to their classmates to finish out the dance year. Formations are specific to each number of dancers in the piece and can be hard to re-do if a dancer decides not to continue. Dance is a team sport and everyone depends on each other in order to put on a great show! Thanks so much for your understanding and help with this!
Don’t forget, we will be open on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 2oth.

Bring Your Sweetheart to Dance Class
With February right around the corner, what a better way to celebrate the month of love than by sharing your fun in class with a special someone! From February 8th – 14th, dancers are encouraged to bring one family member or loved one with them to participate in class. Please make sure to wear something comfortable to move in and get ready to make some special memories.
Upcoming New Classes and Workshops
6-Week Session: Adult Jazz
We are happy to announce an adult Jazz 6-week session class! This course is geared toward intermediate to advanced dancers, however, beginners are welcome as well! We will work on proper stretching, strengthening, across the floor technique and fun dance combos.
The session starts on Tuesday, January 14th and is for adults 18 years and older. The cost for the class is $85 for the session. This class is a wonderful way to try dance without the commitment of a recital or costume fees or to try out a new style. We’re sure you will love it so much that you will want to join us for more! We are also offering FREE registration! Don’t miss out on this fun way to stay in shape this winter. Register through your parent portal today!
Don’t think you can make it each week? Come and drop in for a single class! Drop-ins are $20 cash or check. Just call the office at 603-818-9274 by 5:30 the day of the class to make sure there is space to drop in. Please note that there need to be at least 3 people registered for the session in order for the session to run.
6-Week Session: Shooting Stars Ballet/Tap
We are also holding a Pre-Ballet/Tap, non-Recital session class! Six weeks of an introductory course into the world of dance, learning ballet technique and tap steps in a fun, creative environment. Dancers will build on their ballet and tap technique using creative role play, costumes, and props, and will thrive from positive reinforcement.
The session starts on Saturday, January 18th and is for 5 to 7-year-olds. The cost for the class is just $85 for the session. Register through your parent portal.
6-Week Session: Hip Hop Grooves
Get ready to bust a move in our Hip Hop Grooves 6-week session class! Six weeks of an introductory course including locking, and popping and Hip Hop technique. Hip-hop provides the dancer with an athletic, fun, and creative outlet.
The session starts on Wednesday, January 15th and is for 7 to 10-year-olds. The cost for the class is just $75 for the session. Register through your parent portal.
Student Choreography Showcase
Any dancer ages 8 and older are invited on Saturday, March 21st at 1:00 pm to audition for the Showcase. Choreography for the Showcase is a great responsibility! We audition dancers to make sure they are taking it seriously and are prepared with all the steps completed on or before the audition date. There is a $10 audition fee per dancer and a sign-up sheet is on Miss Lindsey’s desk at the studio. Choreography pieces MUST be fully completed at the time of the audition in order to be considered for the Showcase. More information on this can be found on the Recital tab on our website. If the dancer has completed all steps on or before March 16th and makes it into the Showcase, there is a performance fee of $20 per dancer per dance to cover the cost of running the Showcase. Audience members do not need to buy tickets for the Showcase.
Recital Props Building Day
We are looking for several volunteers to help us build and decorate various props needed for our annual recital. We will need all kinds of help from painting to those comfortable with powertools. Please register below if you would like to lend a hand!
- Day: Saturday, February 15th
- Start Time: 12:30pm
- Register HERE!
Important Message About Posting Dances to Social Media
Parents, please note that we share dances during the last class of each month. Dancers love to perform and we urge you to come into the studio to watch! As we start to work on our recital pieces, we wanted to send a note about posting to social media. We LOVE to see pictures of our dancers having fun both inside outside of class, so please tag us when posting on Facebook and/or Instagram (@joyofdancenh). However, we respectfully ask you not to post any FULL videos of choreography you take during class or at any performances(partial clips are great!). This is because rehearsal videos are meant for practice purposes only and are not performance ready for the public to see. We also want people to be surprised at Recital! We will be sharing small snippets of pieces on our FaceBook page and encourage you to shares those with friends and family. After Recital, we are happy to see videos you have taken of dances posted to social media. In fact, we encourage it! We just ask that you please tag us in your posts so people know where you dance and how to find us. Thank you for your understanding on this!
Happy New Year!
