5. Sickness Policy Reminder
To keep our students and staff as healthy as possible, we ask that dancers, teachers, and families abide by our illness policy outlined below.
Please make sure anyone coming to the studio either to attend classes or sit in the reception area, is free of the following symptoms for at least 24 hours WITHOUT medications before returning to class: *Vomiting *Diarrhea *Fever *Green Mucus *Productive Cough.
Remember that any class missed due to illness is able to be made up by attending either the same level or a level below for your child’s age range in any style they choose. Thank you for helping to keep our dancers healthy!
6. Inclement Weather Policy
The snow season has started, and we want to remind everyone how to know about any inclement weather cancellations. Generally, if schools are closed, the studio will be closed as well.
In the case of closure, we will:
*Make a decision 2 hours before classes start (in case of condition changes) or by 7:30 am on a Saturday
*Post on Facebook/Instagram
*Send out an e-mail
*Send a push notification on our app
If it’s more than 2 hours before classes begin, please wait to get in touch with us. Sometimes condition change throughout the day so we like to make sure we have the most up-to-date information before making a call. We promise we will reach out!
Please note, per our policies, Joy of Dance is not responsible for cancellations due to bad weather, however, students are always welcome to make up any missed classes at another time! Simply send us an email or text to preschedule the makeup so we don’t have too many makeups on the same night.
7. Winter Boots & Slippers
Cold and bitter weather is on the horizon whether we like it or not. Please remember to take off your mucky boots when entering the studio and place them on a shoe rack, not just the mat (we don’t want anyone to trip!). We understand feet get cold in the winter and bringing slippers with you to the studio might be a good solution to keep your toes toasty if you are waiting in the reception area during your dancer’s class.
8. Student Choreography Showcase
Any dancers ages 8 and older are invited to audition for the Showcase on March 18th at 3:30 pm. Choreography for the Showcase is a great responsibility! We audition dancers to make sure they are taking it seriously and are prepared with all the steps completed on or before the audition date. There is a $40 fee per person per dance that covers the audition and performance fees.
Please fill out the form below and an approval or denial email will be sent out within 24-48 business hours. https://forms.gle/GeEon4WhRDZ8mco37
The approval Deadline is 2/15/2023.
Choreography pieces MUST be fully completed at the time of the audition in order to be considered for the Showcase. If you are not able to attend the auditions, you will have to schedule a time BEFORE that date to audition separately.
9. We Have An App!
Did you know that you can log into your parent portal right from your phone! This is a super-easy way to register for classes, events. You can also easily view your account and gain access to the links if you are dancing virtually. We know that your email inbox can get a bit overwhelming, so now you can subscribe to push notifications to get reminders and important information conveniently sent through the app!

10. Virtual Studio Handbook

11. Book Donation
We will have a book donation bin in the waiting area for the month of January. Miss Sydney is collecting slightly loved or new books for ages K-12 that will be distributed to kids in the month of February! We hope you can help help her and Coe Brown with this wonderful project!
12. Jack-of-all-Trades Position
We are looking to hire a person with experience in fixing a variety of projects around the studio. If you are interested in learning more about the position, or if you know of anyone who is handy, please read through and fill out the form below.
