We are holding classes are usually on Monday, October 9th. If you are not able to make it to class, please call/text/email to let us know!

2. Our Waiting Area is a Quiet Lobby that opens at 3:40 pm

We love the community that builds in our waiting room! We also recognize that can cause the lobby to get a little loud at times. That noise is starting to spill into the studios and affect the concentration in our classrooms.

We are asking for your help to make our lobby a “Quiet Lobby”.  To accomplish this, anyone using a device in the lobby will either need to keep the sound off or bring headphones to use.

If you are bringing siblings into the lobby to wait during class, please make sure to bring an activity with you! In order to keep everyone safe, we need to make sure there is no running (toddlers who can’t run fast are fine!). If your child has a hard time sitting still while in the lobby, we recommend waiting in the car or leaving them at home if at all possible.

For our afternoon classes, the waiting areas will be open starting at 3:40 p.m. This will allow our front desk staff plenty of time to get the waiting areas and studios ready for the night!

Important Recital Update!!

We are beyond thrilled to let you know that our application has been accepted to hold our annual Recital at Dover High School the weekend of June 11th and 12th!! Wahoo! There will be tech rehearsals on Wednesday June 8th and Thursday June 9th.  We will have times for each event as it gets closer, but please set aside all the dates in your calendar for now.  We aren’t always able to accommodate any schedules conflicts, but we try when we can.  Please let us know if you have any conflicts ASAP and we will see if we are able to accommodate that for you.

Please note that we are not able to guarantee an indoor theatre performance at this time.  If things change and we are not able to safely hold an indoor performance, we are fortunate to have the option to hold the recital outside right in our backyard! In 2021, we rented a fabulous stage and had an amazing time celebrating our dance’s accomplishments. No matter what happens, we will be able to provide a great space for our dancers to showcase everything they learn this year.

    Costumes

In case you missed it from our newsletter we sent out on Friday, we have a Recital date and location! We copied the information below for you again if you need it.

We also wanted to send a reminder that costume deposits will be posted on October 20th and due on October 25th. See below for more info!

Below is some important information pertaining to costume fees for the recital:

Those who register before January 1st receive the early bird costume pricing of $74. Registering after January 1st- a one-time payment of $85.

Please note- Costumes are ordered on December 20th for up-to-date accounts only.  This includes tuition as well as all costume fees.  Accounts must be current (tuition and costumes paid in full) on or before December 20th. Costumes will not be ordered for accounts that are not up-to-date.  Accounts that are not up-to-date before costume ordering on 12/20 will incur lose the early bird rate and incur a $10.00 charge per costume for the late order.  Late orders also run the risk of not receiving the costume(s) in time for Recital Related Events.

Participation Fee

Last year our Recital t-shirts were a bit hit and dancers love sharing our Digital Download link to friends and family from near and far to show off their hard work. So, we have put together a fabulous Recital bundle to save you money!

The Recital participation fee includes the following:

-Recital T-Shirt ($25 value) 1 per dancer ($15 extra for each additional dancer in the family)

-Professional Digital Recording ($30 value)

-Recital Gift ($10 value)

-Easy Online Ticketing (Priceless!)

All for just $35 for a 1 dancer family!

The Recital participation fee is due March 1st.

Including all of the above, our Recital fee helps to cover the additional costs of running a recital, such as the behind-the-scenes planning and hiring staff to work backstage.  This helps us put on an unforgettable experience for our dancers and their families!

*The participation fee does not include any tickets for the show.  Ticket sales are used to cover the cost of renting the facilities as well as administrative related fees.

Inclement Weather

As we are approaching snow season, we want to remind everyone how to know about any inclement weather cancellations. Most of the time if school is closed, the studio will be closed as well. In case of closure, we will post to Facebook and send out an e-mail roughly 2 hours before the start of class. Please wait to contact us until that 2 hour mark has pasted.  Sometimes things can change in the evenings, so we like to wait until closer to class time to make the call!

Please note, per our policies, Joy of Dance is not responsible for cancellations due to bad weather, however, students are always welcome to make up any missed classes at another time.  Just send us an email to set up a makeup date so we don’t have too many makeups on the same night. (see make up policy below).

Free Trial Week *SPECIAL ALERT!*

October 18th-23rd is our free trial week! Free trial week is for current dancers to try new classes and also for them to bring a friend to try class with them.  Simply have your friend call or text 603-664-4309 or email [email protected] to get started.

*Please note that only open classes are available for the free trial week.

SPECIAL ALERT- If you bring a friend and he or she signs up within 24 hours, then you will both receive a $20 account credit! They just need to write your name in the referral line when registering for the class.  On top of that, you are still eligible to receive the referral credit of $50 after your friend has been registered for 3 months! That’s $70 in savings for EVERY dancers you refer.

2 for $2 Special for new students

Do you have a friend who you think would love to join our dance family? If they can’t make free class week, let them know about this special offer!  With fall sports coming to an end, why not try new dance classes? Simply purchase a voucher for just $2 and you will be able to attend 2 classes in the same week! We only have a hand full of vouchers left, so don’t wait to tell your friends and have them contact the office via email or phone to receive theirs today.  Don’t forget to tell them about our referral program!  When they put you name down at registration, you with BOTH receive a $25 account credit after 3 months.

Halloween Week! October 25th-31st.

We will still be celebrating our favorite Spooky Season during our Halloween costume week! Make sure you get your costumes ready!

Makeup Classes:

As stated in our attendance policies, if a dancer misses a class for any reason, he or she is welcome to make up that class at a different time. It is much easier to make up classes in the fall as we have not started our Recital pieces yet. Classes for ages 3 to 2nd grade have an opposite class in the same level on a different day that you may attend. If there is not an opposite class, another class offered closest to your age group can be taken instead. Please call or text 603-664-4309 or email [email protected] the office to set up your makeup class.

Boots & Slippers

Cold and bitter weather is on the horizon whether we like it or not. Please remember to take off your mucky boots when entering the studio. We understand feet get cold in the winter so it’s a great idea to bring a pair of slippers with you for our Tiny Stars parents who are waiting in the lobby while their dancer is in class.

Thank you!

Hello to both our new and returning families! We hope that you all have had an exciting and fun first couple of weeks back in the studio. We look forward to what the year brings!

A couple of important notes as classes start:

What’s happening:

  1. Parent & Student Handbook

Important.jpgParents’ and Students’ Handbook

Our handbook is a great tool to help keep information easy to find, all in one place. If you haven’t already read through it, please do so at your earliest convenience. You can find it under the ABOUT  TAB  on our website or a hard copy can be available upon request. This is the best reference for any questions you might have.  If you are unable to find the answer to your question after looking through the Handbook, feel free to contact us at [email protected] and we would be happy to assist you.

Newsletter Graphics.jpgEmail

Email is how we communicate all of our important messages to you.  To ensure you are receiving our emails, please add jackrabbittech.com to your safe list. You can also view all our sent messages through your portal when you log in. We recommend checking there if you find you haven’t been receiving bi-weekly emails from us.

Newsletter Graphics-7.jpgDo I Need To Wait In The Reception Area?

Due to the current nature of COVID-19, our lobby is closed to parents and families as it is being used as a waiting area for our dancers. Parents of our Tiny Stars dancers are asked to remain in the lobby to assist with needs for that age group.  As we are using the lobby as a waiting area, we must keep it open and are unable to keep chairs set up.  You are welcome to bring your own camp chairs with you if you wish.

If you need to come in to speak to someone in the office, please give us a heads up to let us know you will be entering the building.

0255132e295dc9b42a0e09f77250a9f5.jpgTiny Stars Parents
Due to the ages of our youngest dancers, we are allowing one parents to wait in the lobby while class is happening, just in case they need some extra help.

Please review the attached file: Tiny Stars Parents.pdf

Newsletter Graphics-8.jpgAre You Paying Tuition By Check?

If you are paying tuition by check, please send it via mail or call us to find out when we will be at the studio this week!

Monthly tuition is due in full by the 25th of the preceding month, and accounts not paid in full after the 1st of the month will have their balance charged to the card on file. Accounts with balances after the 1st of the month will have a $10 late fee added to their account. If a balance has not been paid by the 15th of the month, the dancer will no be able to participate in class until the account is up to date. This policy helps us to focus less time on collecting payments and more time on giving our dancers the best possible dance experience!

Calendar.jpgMissed Classes and Makeups

If you know ahead of time that you are going to be absent from class, we would love an e-mail or a text so we won’t worry. Missed classes can be made up with office permission anytime until the end of May, and even proactively when there is advance notice. You can keep track of absences through your parent portal.

Please make sure to schedule your makeup class ahead of time. With new restrictions we need to make sure we do not have too many people in class at once.  If the class you are making up in is a full class, you may join that class in our Virtual Studio.

Newsletter Graphics-3.jpgDress Code

If you need any items for class, we can get you fitted! Just email or text to schedule a fitting time.

For questions about appropriate/required class attire, please refer to the Dress Code section of the Handbook. Please refer to this guide frequently.

0255132e295dc9b42a0e09f77250a9f5.jpgCostumes Fees:

Believe it or not, it is coming up on the time to order costumes! We order costumes in late December in order to ensure that our favorite picks will be in stock and delivered in time for Picture Day in May.  A 50% deposit is due October 25th and the remainder is due November 25th.

Costumes fees are $74 per class and include 1 pair of tights per dancer for each color. The exception is for Shooting Stars and Dance Adventures (see below)

Shooting Stars and Dance Adventures Costumes

Costume companies are doing things differently for the combo-costumes this year.  Previously the prices have been all inclusive of pieces in the combo classes, however they have changed that and are charging each piece separately.  Therefore the 2-in-1 costumes are a bit more than a single costume but less than 2 separate costumes.

Dance Adventures

$120 for both styles (ballet and jazz, 1 pair of tights)

Shooting Stars

$74 for one style

$120 for 2 styles

$148 for three styles

Car.jpgParking

Our parking lot can be a little tricky to maneuver. When entering, please veer to the right. You can park in front of the building, on the side near the trees, and around back. When leaving, please follow the arrows and make a loop around the building. It is a one way parking lot. This will help with the flow of traffic, especially during high volume hours. Please make sure to watch this video before dropping off your dancer so that they go into the correct door!

The annual membership is your membership fee for the next dance season. It is designed to help make the enrollment process as easy as possible for our dance families. In the past, classes have filled up quickly when registration opened, some as quickly as 2 hours after registration opens! Having the knowledge of how many dancers are wishing to continue with their training helps us to accommodate enough space in the levels for all of our dancers.

We take the time to share dances with our parents and with the other classes being held at the same time.  This helps the dancers get used to having an audience and to get excited about the progress they’ve made so far with their Recital pieces.  All the teachers also videotape this week in order to send out for practicing over break and beyond.  This means parents can sit back and enjoy the performances the dancers are putting on for them! To view choreography videos, download the Band App in the App store.  After, you can connect to our profile using our Band App link.  Dances will be placed in albums according to the day of the week they meet.

We LOVE to see pictures of our dancers having fun both inside outside of class, so please tag us when posting on Facebook (@joyofdancenh) or Instagram (joyofdancenh).  However, we respectfully ask you not to post any full videos of choreography you take during class or at any performances until after Recital takes place.  This is because rehearsal videos are meant for practice purposes only and are not performance ready for the public to see.  We also want people to be surprised at Recital!  After Recital, we are happy to see any videos you have taken of dances posted to social media.  In fact, we encourage it!  We just ask that you please tag us in your posts so people know where you dance and how to find us.  Thank you for your understanding on this!

We are getting so excited for Recital now that costumes are starting to be delivered. Please note that we will be handing them out once we receive ALL for each class but some costumes will be shipping at a later date due to warehouse stocking. No need to worry if your costume hasn’t arrived in the near future. We promise all costumes have been ordered and have shipping dates.

Remember, one pair of tights per style per dancer is included in the costume fee. Important– tights are sized differently than costumes. WE have guessed on tight sizes, so you will need to check the size chart for the height and the weight of the dancer to determine the correct size. Please do this BEFORE you open the tights. We are unable to exchange an open pair of tights for a different size.

We want to make sure our dancers are getting the most out of their time while at Joy of Dance, so please remind them to use the bathroom before leaving home or when arriving at the studio!

8. Recital is June 12th!!!

Last year brought many challenges, but we knew we needed to give our dancers the opportunity for a celebration and closure to an unconventional dance year. Everyone loved being able to be with their friends, share their accomplishments with friends and family, and to simply spend a day having FUN again.

As always, safety is our priority. As current guidelines stand, audience members will be wearing masks (everyone was a Rockstar with this last year!) and will assess as we get closer if dancers will be able to remove them during their 2-3 minute performance on stage (all dancers will be required to wear masks when not on stage or the next up to perform either way).

Make sure to mark your calendars for June 12th, and June 13th (our rain date). Please note- if you schedule something on the rain date, we will not be able to accommodate any schedule changes for you. You will need to block off the entire weekend to ensure that you will be able to participate.

Any dancer ages 8 and older are invited to audition for the Showcase (Date TBD).  Choreography for the Showcase is a great responsibility!  We audition dancers to make sure they are taking it seriously and are prepared with all the steps completed on or before the audition date.  There is a $30 fee per person per dance that covers the audition and performance fees.

You must email the office at [email protected] with the name of the song and the lyrics in order to get an approval of your song.  AFTER you get approval, you must fill out this Google Form.

Choreography pieces MUST be fully completed at the time of the audition in order to be considered for the Showcase.  If you are not able to attend the auditions, you will have to schedule a time BEFORE that date to audition separately.  More information on this can be found on the Recital tab on our website.

As winter season is in full swing, and Covid-19 levels still on the rise, we would like to take a moment and go over our policy for illness with you so we can help keep our studio and dancers as healthy as possible.

Please make sure anyone coming to the studio either to attend classes or sit in the reception area, are free of the following symptoms for at least 24 hours WITHOUT medications before returning to class:

*Any Covid-19 Symptoms (loss of taste/smell, body aches, persistent headache, etc.)
*Vomiting
*Diarrhea
*Fever (99 degrees or higher)
*Green Mucous
*Productive Cough

Remember that any class missed due to illness is able to be made up by attending either the same level or a level below for your child’s age range in any style they choose.

Thank you for helping to keep our dancers healthy and safe!

Please reach out with any questions you may have!

Best Regards,

JoD Staff

 1. Recital is coming!! EEK!

Start getting excited, because Recital is only 5 months away!

The Recital is a time for our dancers to show off the hard work they put in all year long. The dancers look forward to putting on their fabulous costumes, performing on stage, and having a blast! It helps them to gain confidence by working towards hitting a big goal they set at the beginning of the year. It also inspires dancers to do their best and helps them understand what it takes to be a part of a team.  It is a special day that will hold special memories for everyone involved!

We’ll be announcing more details in the next month or so. Be sure to keep an eye out for that soon!

Recital Choreography begins this month!

Speaking of Recital, we will be starting choreography for our recital dances this month!  At this time, we ask that our dance parents speak to their dancers about the importance of making a commitment to their classmates to finish out the dance year.  Formations are specific to each number of dancers in the piece and can be hard to re-do if a dancer leaves class before the end of the year.  Dance is a team sport and everyone depends on each other in order to put on a great show! Of course, we know things happen, so please reach out if you have any concerns.  We are often able to problem solve and figure out a solution to any issues!

6Costume Volunteers Needed!

This process is so fun and we look forward to sharing it with you!

7. Important Message About Posting Dances to Social Media

Parents, please note that we share dances during the last class of each month. Dancers love to perform and we urge you to come into the studio to watch! As we start to work on our recital pieces, we wanted to send a note about posting to social media.  We LOVE to see pictures of our dancers having fun both inside outside of class, so please tag us when posting on Facebook and/or Instagram (@joyofdancenh).  However, we respectfully ask you not to post any FULL videos of choreography you take during class or at any performances(partial clips are great!).  This is because rehearsal videos are meant for practice purposes only and are not performance ready for the public to see.  We also want people to be surprised at Recital! We will be sharing small snippets of pieces on our FaceBook page and encourage you to shares those with friends and family. After Recital, we are happy to see videos you have taken of dances posted to social media.  In fact, we encourage it!  We just ask that you please tag us in your posts so people know where you dance and how to find us.  Thank you for your understanding on this!

8. Band App

The Band App is where students can find videos of choreography from class! This will be super important to have once recital dances start. Please download the app on your smartphone or tablet, and remind your dancer to review their choreography that will get uploaded at least every other month.

I must admit I am not a person who loves to cook.  Maybe it’s because I don’t have a sense of smell (strange, I know!) but whatever the reason is, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite easy to put together recipes, One Pan Autumn Chicken Dinner. It’s delicious and only requires one pan for cooking (BONUS: less dirty dishes!)

I love the way the veggies and apples complement the chicken. And since everything is roasted together the flavors have a chance to meld during that cook time.

This meal just has fall written all over it with its seasonal veggies and the fact that it’s just total good for the soul comfort food perfect for a cool breezy fall day.

Check it out below!

Happy Cooking!

-Lindsey
