The studio will be closed from April 20th- April 26th for Spring Break. Classes will resume Saturday, April 27th. Good luck to all of our dancers dancing in Disney that week!
Recital Details Coming Soon!
By the end of next week, there will be a lot of Recital details coming your way (including show times)! It is a lot of information to read through, but don’t feel overwhelmed! Not all of it relates to every dancer and it is clearly labeled for you to follow. Everything Recital related will also be posted to the Recital tab on the website. We recommend putting all dates in your calendar/planner as soon as it is released. This way you won’t miss anything!
Speaking of Recital…
Does your dancer have their correct attire for the big stage? Not sure where to find this information? Head over to the Recital tab of our website and click the “2019 Recital Costume Details” button. Costume and shoe information is organized by class. Be sure to read ALL of your dancer’s costume details for each class/style they are enrolled in!
Recital Q&A Meetings with Miss Lindsey!
Do you have questions about your dancer’s big day? Miss Lindsey will be hosting two Q&A sessions to help ease the excitement and jitters of Recital. This is a great time to ask the director and other parents questions! Meetings will be held Tuesday, May 7th @ 10:15 am (childcare provided) & Wednesday, May 8th @ 7:45 pm. Can’t make those days? No problem! During the May 8th session, we will be going Facebook Live to share the meeting with those unable to attend. Be sure to follow Joy of Dance on Facebook to follow along! We also highly recommend those who are volunteering to be Backstage Moms to attend these sessions. If you are unable to attend, please submit your questions to email@example.com by Monday, May 8th and we will answer them during the FaceBook live event for you to watch at your convenience.
Share Week and Practice Videos
The last week of classes before the break is a fun week at the studio! We take the time to share dances with our parents and with the other classes being held at the same time. This helps the dancers get used to having an audience and to get excited about the progress they’ve made so far with their Recital pieces. All teachers also videotape dances this week in order to send out videos for practicing over break and beyond. This means parents can sit back and enjoy the performances the dancers are putting on for them! All videos will be posted to the BAND app by day of the week. You can find our band here–>https://band.us/n/adacz9KereR9H
Just a reminder that yearly tuition is calculated per the average number of weeks in the year then divided into 9.5 payments. This makes paying monthly easier than calculating a different amount each month as “one month” isn’t always 4 weeks of classes. To ensure all accounts are up to date before recital tickets go on sale, the last payment is combined into 1 and 1/2 payments due on May 1st. All accounts must be paid in full by May 20th in order to purchase recital tickets.

Class Recommendations & Fall Schedule
If you haven’t already, please don’t forget to let us know if you are making any changes to your current schedule for next year by Friday, April 5th. Once we have student counts from our membership renewals, we will begin the recommendation process and then start to plan the schedule out. We expect to release the 2019-2020 schedule mid-May along with student recommendations.
Class recommendations roughly follow the age of the dancer, but experience and other factors do affect placements as well. All of our teachers have put a lot of thought into the best placements for our students to grow the best. Please encourage constructive conversations and discourage any negative discussions you may hear from your dancers about where other dancers have been placed. There is no place for negativity at Joy of Dance!
There are a lot of factors that go into class placements, and our teachers have years of training and education to determine the best placements for all our dancers. As our dancers are constantly changing and growing, we are also constantly reassessing our dancers, and therefore will let you know if recommendations change by the end of the year. You will have an opportunity to schedule a placement meeting to discuss any concerns as well. Concerns will not be addressed through email. Thank you for your help and understanding on this matter!

Community Service Opportunities through Joy of Dance
Joy of Dance is proud to dedicate the month of April to community service! During the month of April, we will be collecting items to assemble care packages for military serving overseas. These brave men and women often have to travel far away from their families and loved ones in order to do their job. Care packages are our way of getting the comforts of home to those who are deployed overseas. This is a wonderful way to show them our appreciation. Care package items needed include: sunscreen, body wash, deoderant (.5oz), disposable razors, chapstick, mints, gum, personal size snacks, instant coffee, socks, etc. To find a complete list, please check out the donation bin in the studio!
On Saturday, May 11th we will be volunteering at the 25th Annual Pepper 5K Road Race at Barrington Elementary School. Proceeds of the race benefit the Barrington Chamber Scholarship fund in which $1,000 scholarships are awarded to several local high school seniors to help pay for college! Volunteers, please report to the school at 7:30 am. If you are unable to make it that day, the Barrington Chamber has also asked us to bake cookies for the event! Please join us in this wonderful community service project!
